Long-wave radiant heat – like a sun-warmed rock
TIKA is an infrared heat panel developed for terrariums and similar habitats. It helps create a broad, controllable warm zone without visible light – ideal when you want to add heat without operating noise or concentrating all warmth into a small point source.
TIKA emits long-wave infrared radiation, IR-C. A simple way to understand the technology is to think of a rock that has been warmed by the sun and continues to radiate heat afterward. In the same way, TIKA adds long-wave radiant heat that complements the enclosure’s existing heating and lighting.
The radiant energy is absorbed by the animal and by surfaces within the enclosure rather than relying solely on heated air. This helps create a defined warm zone as part of the enclosure’s thermal gradient, allowing the animal to choose between warmer and cooler areas.
TIKA is particularly well suited to overnight heating, background heat and larger warm zones without visible light.
TIKA is not intended to replace an IR-A basking source for species that require one. Instead, it complements the enclosure’s other heating and lighting sources with long-wave radiant heat.
Why choose TIKA?
-
Broader warm zone – distributes radiant heat across a larger area instead of concentrating it into one small point
-
Heat without visible light – ideal for overnight heating, background heat and setups where the light cycle should remain undisturbed
-
Defined thermal zone – helps you create a controlled warm area while keeping cooler zones available
-
Self-regulating PTC technology – automatically reduces power output as the heating element becomes hotter
-
Stepless power control – makes it easy to fine-tune the heat output for your enclosure
-
IP68 rated – built for humid and demanding terrarium environments
-
Silent operation – no fan and no operating noise
-
Detachable Plug & Play cable – simplifies installation, servicing and cable routing
-
Slim aluminium construction – only 30 mm deep and easy to integrate into the enclosure
-
Thermostat compatible – suitable for use with external temperature control
Broad heat instead of one intense point
TIKA uses a large emitting surface. Rather than concentrating its output into one small area, the radiant heat is distributed across a broader zone.
The result is a wider warm area that is easier to integrate into the enclosure’s overall thermal gradient.
The temperature of the warm zone will depend on factors such as mounting distance, enclosure size, ventilation, power setting and thermostat control. Temperatures should therefore always be measured and adjusted to suit the species and enclosure.
Self-regulating PTC technology
TIKA uses a self-regulating PTC heating element that reduces power output as its temperature rises. This contributes to stable and predictable operation.
The PTC technology regulates the behaviour of the heating element itself, but it does not replace temperature control within the enclosure. For precise regulation, TIKA should therefore be used with a suitable external thermostat.
Built for real terrarium conditions
Humidity, limited space and continuous operation place high demands on equipment used in reptile and amphibian enclosures.
TIKA is IP68 rated, completely silent and only 30 mm deep. Its detachable connection cable also makes installation and cable routing easier.
This makes the panel easy to integrate even in setups where space, humidity and cable management can otherwise limit installation options.
